Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the outside provider that delivers results. Our servers do not retain a copy of that search. When you contact us, we use the contents of your message only to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems may log an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We review this in aggregate for security, maintenance, and understanding broad page use. Cookies or comparable tools may support analytics and, where used, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
We use this limited data to operate the service, address technical issues, measure overall traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search services. Their own privacy rules govern information submitted after leaving this site, including information entered in a sponsored-result tool.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Information Choices
Michigan does not have a comprehensive consumer-data privacy law of the kind described by the Michigan Attorney General’s privacy guidance. You may still contact us to ask about data we retain. Because the service keeps little information, we can check the contact mailbox and relevant server logs and remove information where appropriate. Use the Contact page. A request to remove a government-held public record must go to its state, county, court, or local custodian.
Updates to This Policy
We will post a revised policy here when the terms change. Continued use after publication indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
